Hi there. If somebody brought this to your attention already, sorry for the spam, but I simply couldn’t resist, because I know issues about She-Hulk looking like supermodel instead of like huge green monster her cousin is popped on this blog before. This is what she-hulk should look like - muscled, all the way to bulky. This also proves how somebody can be very muscled and still easily recognizable as female :D

The “girls can’t have muscles” agenda certain people try to force on us are in the end just all about their own personal preferences and nothing else.

Because of this, I treat ‘requests’ as nothing more than ‘suggestions and inspirations’. Unless I’m able to turn it into something I would actually enjoy drawing myself, it will not be done. ;)

‘Would you draw my OC’-requests, or ‘Feel free to draw my OC anytime’ requests-in-disguise will not work however.

But while I’m good at saying ‘No’, I also see how such requests can be off-putting nevertheless - When people praise your stuff, then it turns out they actually don’t care at all, they just try to talk you into drawing what they want instead of what you want. Still best thing to do is - just stay friendly, just say ‘No’, and should they continue to ask you about such ‘requests’, then just ignore.

I must confess I’m surprised that people take down their art and leave sites just because somebody tried to get something for free. Yes, leeching sucks (pun not intended :P), but why make such a big deal out of it? :-/

The other day, I read a book that paused its narrative every so often to talk about the human spirit. Entire disjointed paragraphs existed just so they would make the author sound philosophical in the middle of their fast-paced action-thriller.

Please don’t do this. Your philosophical themes can reveal themselves through the actions of your characters, not through cutesy little quotable paragraphs talking about how “we all suffer hardships” in the middle of a third-person, past-tense book (I’m not kidding. The author literally changed tenses to deliver his sap).

If you can’t realistically work something in the narrative and must stop to talk to your readers instead, scrap it.

yes, this is horrible. not only because it stops the actual story, but when it’s “author filibuster”.. eeewg! just bleeeergw!

Women in Games

Hello! I’m part of a tiny indie studio. We recently posted about the representation of women in games (and how that influenced the design of our character), and we thought that discussion fitted with the themes of the blog. =]

The problem is when people think that women must be sexy, must be sexy in one particular way, and shouldn’t be anything else than that.

Can this really be true? The overall report isn’t bad at all, you can read it from here: http://www.europarl.europa.eu/sides/getDoc.do?pubRef=-//EP//TEXT+REPORT+A7-2012-0401+0+DOC+XML+V0//EN but yeah, it does include a call “for a ban on all forms of pornography in the media”.
I’d be quite interested on what exactly the report wants from ban of pornography, considering that’s quite loose a statement, same as media, and that there’s pornography of all genders and sexualities.

Yes, the particularly creepy part is how it may look like a good thing at first sight - “promote gender equality and eliminating gender stereotypes”, and that it may get approved because of that.

Well it’s either that or the other way where I have a great visual idea but struggle adding the small amount of dialog so that it comes off naturally (generally this happens with the Gore comic since neither of the characters are that talkative).
