This has happened to me a *lot*. D:
First I didn’t understand how, but then I noticed a flaw in Photoshop - at least in the version I use (Elements 6.0).
I work on one layer (for example base colors), then I select another layer (for example for highlighting or shading) and do something there. But then I regret what I did and step back in the history in order to un-do it. Unfortunately, this doesn’t just un-do, but also moves me back to the previous layer (base colors). I have to select the second layer (highlighting; shading) once again, but which is easily overlooked or forgotten.
